Attorney Annelise Sander was invited to assist the American Mock Trial Association during their Regional Undergraduate Mock Trial Tournament in February 2021. She participated as a judge, and her role was to evaluate the students’ performance and advocacy skills. The tournament included over 750 participating teams from colleges all over the United States.
During mock trials, students have the chance to develop their oral advocacy skills and critical thinking during simulations of direct and cross-examinations and the presentation of arguments. This year the tournament was held online due to the Covid19 pandemic.
“It was a great opportunity to help the students understand the legal system and legal profession.” Mrs. Sander said. During almost four hours of the trial, Annelise observed and evaluated each participant’s performance. For her, it was a great joy to help students and remember the day she participated in Moot Court Competitions and represented her alma mater, the University of Miami School of Law, back in 2015 and 2016.
